SPCC #8

Hello all! This week, we will debuting half (well a little over half because some volunteered to do the challenge that was not required of them) of the SP Divas with SPCC #8 and next week, the other half of the team will officially debut. I felt that SPCC #8 was quite a challenging one, so put your creative cap on and let the ideas flow. I can't wait to see what you all create with this one!!

In August, we will also be debuting our first ever guest designer!!!

Use this color combo for your project -be it a card, scrapbook LO, 3D or altered item. You do NOT have to use Stampin' UP brand colors, but you do have to use colors close to these colors.

Entries are due on Sunday, August 3rd. Next Monday, I will showcase the winner and the SP Top Five. The winner from SPCC #6 will be posted tomorrow.

Our great sponsor this week is. . . . Sammye Jo @ 62 Cards!

You gals already know how much I adore Sammye Jo. She is just the sweetest little little thing in the world and not only that, she has the cutest little items in her Etsy shop. You definitely need to check this girl out. She is an amazing blogger that will keep you inspired and entertained so go visit her. She just became a Stampin' UP demonstrator and joined my Stampin' UP team, the Inkalicious Divas :O) She ROCKS!!! Seriously, I can't say enough great things about her.

Sammye Jo has donated this lovely prize pack for one lucky winner this week:

It's Finally Friday at SPCC!

This week's Finally Friday is brought to you by one of our fabulous SP Divas, Heidi! Next week, one of our SPCCers will be hosting. Would you like to host? Simply play along with Finally Friday or SPCC and you might be asked!!
She came up with this neat challenge and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

This week's challenge: Make your own embellishments using household items.

There are so many gorgeous embellishments available for purchase out there nowadays. But in these hard economic times, saving a buck here or there doesn't hurt. And the handmade look is so IN! So why not use some everyday household items to embellish your creations?

On my layout "It's a Dogs' Life" my "ribbon" and butterfly accents are made of items you probably have laying around. (Did you also notice the color combo is SPCC #7??!!)

The "ribbon" is made of popped bubblewrap custom colored with alcohol inks. I love the way it kind of looks like grass which mimics an element in two of my photos.

And, after cleaning the alcohol inks off my craft mat, I realized I had another great piece of embellishment fodder on my hands - the used paper towel. I simply cut a butterfly shape out of a nicely mottled area, folded it up a bit at the body, and then doodled on it with some Stickles. Voila!

But wait! There's more! I didn't just stop with these 2 embellishments while I had my inks and my creativity whipped out! I also made these:

Another piece of alcohol-inked bubblewrap (which I think will lend itself nicely to a water-themed project), a dye-inked dryer sheet flower blossom, and yes, what household project would be complete without some good old duct tape? This time it's colored with alcohol inks and fashioned into a flower and a pinwheel. (I'm feeling that pinwheel on a boy-themed layout!)

You could even take any of these items one step further by stamping on them with StazOn. (I can tell you there will definitely be some stamped duct tape embellies on some of my upcoming projects REAL soon!! So cute!)

There are so many possibilities of things you can make with household items. Here are a few more examples I've made recently:

Hostess CupCake box flower:

Disposable aluminum serving tray rocket:

Well, as you can see, I had a lot of fun trying to come up with innovative and cost-effective handmade embellishments.

So, come on! Let's see that CREATIVITY!!

Don't forget to link your projects up with Mr. Linky. Even though this challenge is just for fun, we're all dying for you to show us what you've come up with!

And, of course, I hope you're participating in this week's Color Combo Challenge!

Now, Heidi has left you with tons of great ideas for making your own embellishments, so lets see your stuff, SPCCers!!

Our great sponsor this week is. . . . Elmer's Crafters!Elmer's Crafters actually contacted me through my personal blog, Scrapmaster's Paradise, and wanted to offer me products to review on my blog. You can read more details about the story here: http://thescrapmaster.blogspot.com/2009/07/i-love-you-glue-doggie-tags-x-2.html. When they contacted me, I just had to ask them to sponsor and they generously accepted to donate a prize for SPCC! Anyway, Elmer's has a whole line of awesome products for paper crafting, including glues, glue dots, painters, and xacto knives. They are working hard to expand their crafting line even further so expect to see more great things from them in the future. I have just started to play with the pile of goodies they sent to me, and I am loving everything so far. Be sure to go to their website and take a look around.

One lucky winner this week will receive the items pictured above:
  • one Gold metallic and one Silver metallic Painters marker -medium tip -these are permanent and can be used on almost any surface
  • one Elmer's Craft Bond Scrapbook Glue Set -this set includes a Photo Stik (TM) glue stick, a fine tip glue stick pen, a Memory Book Glue Pen (liquid glue pen), and an Extra Strength Glue stick.
AND did I mention there will be blog candy too???? Head on over to my blog and get in on some Elmer's blog candy this week too! Just leave me a comment on THIS POST (click to go to it) telling me your favorite Elmer's product and you will be entered in the blog candy. Blog candy will end August 1st.

Winner's Circle SPCC #6

All I can say this week is WOW! Between the talent you all have showed with the DT applications and this weeks color combo, I am just overwhelmed (hence, I didn't post the winners on time). Thank you so much for playing along and being so kind to your fellow SPCCers. I also really appreciate everyone who has kindly welcomed the new SP Diva Team. You gals are the greatest. Scrapbookers are the nicest people on the planet and I am glad to be getting to know so many of you through SPCC.

Now I know there is always a lull after DT calls are over, but I hope that won't be the case here. I hope we continue to grow. I am hoping to continue to have great participation, awesome sponsors, and that all depends on you! Please help spread the word where you can!

Are you ready to see this week's winners?

The winner of SPCC #6 is. . . Trish!! She made this lovely card:
